Nova CycloCross Custom
Steve has has created another masterpeice. This time it is a Jamis Nova Cyclocross Custom. The Nova Custom is fully competent on the cyclocross course, but often sees use as a hardworking off-season training bike thanks to the tempered ride and feel of Reynolds 851 steel. Generous mud clearance between the stays and fork blades means lots of room for oversized tires and fenders. A Shimano 105 drivetrain puts performance where it counts whether you’re contesting the weekend ’cross series or trying to beat the traffic on your winter commute.
Frame:
Reynolds premium 851 air-hardened chromoly actually gains strength in the weld zone area, instead of losing it like all other welded material, allowing Reynolds to draw this tubing thinner, for a lighter, stiffer frame with outstanding "feel". Heat treated cro-moly rear stays and investment cast dropouts
Fork:
Easton EC90X Carbon fiber cross fork featuring forged aluminum crown, carbon fiber legs, cro-moly steerer
Complete Shimano 105 drivetrain assures light, precise shifting.

Shimano 105 Brakes/Shifers, Derailleurs, with Ritchey Pro Double Cranks.
Wheels:
Ultegra Hubs, Mavic Open Pro Rims, straight pull spokes with alternating red and silver alloy nipples. Michelin Custom- combo Cyclecross tires. The front is radialy laced and the rear has a tri-cross patern.
Saddle:

Wheel Specs:
Hub: DT Swiss 240s Front Hubs are superlight. The front is 96grams and rear is only 240grams

These super lightweight hubs use a stainless steel, quad-bearing system offering superb performance and durability. Hand built in Switzerland with the precision of a fine Swiss watch. 32 hole.
Rim: Mavic 719 in Black
The XM 719 rim is a new rim in Mavic's "cross-mountain" family, replacing the F519 rim from years past. They're designed for heavier duty use than a pure cross-country rim, yet still offer lightweight performance that won't weigh you down. Mavic's Maxtal aluminum construction keeps them strong. The SUP and UB Control technologies provide a welded and machined rim joint and brake track, so the braking surface is perfectly smooth and round for predictable, grab-free braking power.
Spokes: The Wheelssmith DB14 spokes are double butted spokes in a 3 cross patern. Double butted means that the thickness of the spoke is greater at the end than in the middle (2.0-1.7-2.0mm in this case). The thinner section in the middle saves weight, and allows the spoke to stretch slightly as the wheel is subjected to stress while riding, resulting in fewer cracks around the spoke holes in the rim, and less stress at the elbow of the spoke. All Wheelsmith spokes are produced from a specially drawn 304 stainless steel using a variety of cold forging techniques. All of these processes work to increase strength and fatigue resistance.
Spoke Nipples: Anodized lightweight alloy
This wheelset features an alternating Purple and Gold patern.
Rim Strip: Velox Premium Rim Tape.
Reinforced cotton/polyester adhesive tape with a valve hole. This product has a proven efficiency the world over. That entire staff at Niantic Bay Bicycles uses Velox rim strips on all of our wheels.
Tire: Nokian Extreme 120
Nokian also makes the Extreme without the studs in the center. It's the same tire, just with fewer studs. The idea is that if you don't get much ice you can get away with fewer studs and save both some weight and some money. 120 studs. A bit lighter than the Extreme 294. I don't have the exact weight. Not a foldable tire.
